Parent Information Imagine Galileo Benchmarks are research-based tests that provide insights into students' overall ability. Each benchmark measures a wide sampling of the grade-level standards that your student will be instructed on that year. The test results guide teacher-led instruction for your child. The first benchmark of the year provides a baseline or starting point on your student's path to grade-level learning. As the school year unfolds, you will administer additional benchmarks and be able to look back on this starting point and see the growth and learning your student has accomplished. Imagine Galileo Benchmarks are tests that students receive to help educators and families learn what students may already know and what they may not yet know. This information will guide instruction to best meet your student’s needs. After your student has completed an Imagine Galileo Benchmark Test you can view a series of reports in the Imagine Galileo K-12 Student-Family Center that will show you the standards and skills that your student is proficient in and the standards where your student is still working towards proficiency. Students will log into Galileo by selecting the icon on ClassLink. The link will take students to their portal launchpad.Next, the parent can select the icon named, “Test Results.” On this page, the parents can view all the test's results. At the bottom of the page, parents can also see student performance in the form of bar graphs. Each test is also displayed in a PDF document titled the Individual Development Profile. The Individual Development Profile shows how your student performed on specific grade-level standards that have been assessed throughout the year.Taking the TestsThe student can take as long as they want to complete the test during a given testing window. While it can take as long as one hour to complete each test, they typically take between 20 and 40 minutes. If the student wants to take a break, they should pause the test.Practice Test: Imagine Learning has created practice tests that we encourage parents to schedule and have students take prior to the administration of the benchmark assessment. There is a practice test for the K-1 audio tests and a practice test for 2ndgrade and above students. The practice test will allow students and teachers to “try out” the test in a remote, independent or classroom setting. Practice tests will be scheduled for the first benchmark assessment if parents select to use them.https://imaginelearning.app.box.com/s/0mplf7k9mt370vqzoav64vrlbuh1bkbeCreating the Optimal Testing EnvironmentParents should supervise students during the test and avoid the temptation to provide help! An accurate understanding of the child’s strengths and areas of need will ensure a more successful school year. As the student is taking the tests, no other browsers or sites or pages should be opened. After accessing the site, the student should close all other browser tabs for the remainder of the testing session. Test Tools and FunctionsStrike Through: There are many test tools. One function is called “Strike Through.” Strike through allows the student to deselect an item that they believe is wrong and thus reduces the number of answer choices. Highlighting Tool: The “Highlighting Tool” allows students to identify the most essential or pertinent information.Add Note: The student also has the option to add a note to any item by selecting ”Add Note” from the drop-down menu next to each item.Mark for Review: When students are feeling challenged by an item, they can choose to save it and complete it later using the” Mark for Review” tool. Zoom Tool: In the upper right-hand corner, students can make the text larger by selecting the drop-down menu.Pausing or Submitting the TestSubmitting Test: Before submitting the test, the system will ask the student to review their answers. If the student is satisfied with their responses, they can select the submit test button.Pausing Test: Students can pause the test at any time and return to the test during each testing window. Accidental Submission: If a student accidentally submits a test before desired, the student will be locked out of the test. If the student wishes to resume the test, the parent should contact the student’s advisor and they will unlock the test.Student ResultsImagine Galileo Benchmarks are research-based tests that provide insights into students' overall ability.
