The physical development in your child’s education is one of the easiest areas to overlook. A physical education program needs to be implemented within each homeschool. Bridgeway Academy has established a minimum physical education concept; yours may exceed this minimum. Students should have 30 to 45 minutes of vigorous exercise at least 3 times each week. Aerobics include jogging, brisk walking, and other activities that increase the heart and breathing rate. The purpose of this type of exercise is to cleanse the circulatory system while promoting good health and mental alertness. Aerobics can be connected to coordination and dexterity activities. This can be especially beneficial for children up to the 7th or 8th-grade levels. At the high school level, each student must earn 1 credit of Physical Education.

Credit for physical education is awarded based on the parent/teacher verifying that the high school student has diligently followed the family’s PE program.  Students must log 60 hours of PE to earn .50 credit.  If a student logs 120 hours of credit in one academic year, 1.0 credit will be issued.   A total of 1 full credit of PE is required for graduation from Bridgeway Academy.

A student cannot be awarded more than two (2) PE credits in a single academic year.  It is recommended that all students complete PE for each year enrolled with Bridgeway Academy. In order to earn credit for Physical Education, the Physical Education Log must be kept.

You can download the PE log under the Forms and Documents page from the Upload Center on your Parent BLC dashboard, or you can use this link.
